College Essays

Candy mentors high school juniors and seniors on their college essay, supplements, and application process. She uses an innovative approach that retains the student's voice and makes a distinctive impression. She also works with applicants for graduate school.

 

Her students have been accepted to a wide range of colleges, including Columbia University, Princeton, Swarthmore, Georgetown, Wesleyan, Tufts, NYU, Boston College, Franklin & Marshall, Skidmore, Tulane, SUNY and CUNY universities. In today's top colleges, 85% of applicants are admissible, but often only less than 10% can be accepted. A convincing, polished essay can sway an acceptance decision from "maybe" to "yes."

Candy has an M.A. in Educational Psychology from NYU and a B.S. in Education from The Ohio State University. She is a writing professor at The New School in New York City. She is an award-winning essayist and Op-Ed writer with publications in The New York Times, The Washington Post, New York Magazine, among many others.
